3-day itinerary London from the rooftop

If you like to visit cities with a bird’s eye view, you will discover the best places to visit in London where you can have panoramic views of the city as well as tips to save on your visit to these tall buildings.

Day #1
London Eye: The amazing 135 meter high Ferris wheel, The London Eye, has become one of the most iconic icons in the city and the UK.
Book online to save 10% off from the normal price and continue your visit to the Big Ben. In a few meters you will get to the Abbey and Palace of Westminster, Buckingham Palace and continue your itinerary heading to Trafalgar Square and St. Paul’s Cathedral.
If you still have time, I recommend you to spend the evening in Covent Garden, favorite location for
londoners where there are artist shows in the central square, many of them were (or still are) stars in shows but due to season breaks they continue to make shows and get tips on the streets .

Day #2 The Shard: Today we will visit the highest building in the European Union and the United Kingdom (310 meters high) where you will enjoy amazing views over the entire city and the River Thames.
Plan your visit for a clear day when there is no possibility of fog or rain and online booking to avoid long queues. If you do not want to pay the expensive entrance, you can have a drink for about 10-12£ at the Aqua Shard Restaurant located on the 35th floor. From here you can have luch at the Borough Market and visit Tower Bridge, Tower of London, Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Circus.
If you have wish and have some time left you can walk around the financial city of Bank where you will find the tall buildings like 30 St Mary Axe, better known as the ‘Gherkin’ or 20 Fenchurch Street, nicknamed the ‘Walkie-talkie’. Most are not accessible because there are work offices. Once a year usually on November takes places the ‘Open House Weekend‘, a major event where during a whole weekend there is free access to most of the buildings (including those that are not allowed to be visited).

Day #3 Canary Wharf: In this area are the three tallest buildings in the United Kingdom behind The Shard: One Canada Square (also known as Canary Wharf Tower) with 235.1 meters high, the HSBC towers acquired by Metrovacesa for 1.6 billion euros in 2007 and Citigroup Center f 199.5 meters high. The beauty of this area is to walk as it is surrounded by water and modern architecture. If you can visit London Docklands, area full of boats and restaurants by the water where the Thames channel enters.
In the afternoon we will head to the Greenwich Meridian, from there you can have panoramic views over the city of London from the distance.

  1. I’d been to London many years ago when there was only London Eye for the view. I so want to visit The Shard looking at the pictures. So pretty from up there. 🙂
